Saturday morning. We have light rain, coffee and ... corn cakes. Something about Saturday morning rain gets me all cozy and cuddly feeling. It inspires me to be lazy in a good way. My husband makes a good pot of coffee, which he did first thing this morning. Mmmmm. I only drink coffee on weekends, and only because I enjoy having a cup with him. For the past year and longer I have been off of coffee for female health reasons. Then I went and got myself married and I started having coffee again, but still keep it in moderation...

The nearest village is nine miles from here, the largest good-sized town is thirty minutes away, and the closest city is an hour away. The likelihood of my being able to find a satisfying yarn store within reasonable and affordable driving distance to home is slim at best. I love shopping online, and always have so now I just have to develop a love of shopping for yarn online. I've done it twice now since moving here and so far it is working out well. Yesterday the Berroco Ultra Alpaca I ordered earlier in the week arrived; packaged very aesthetically...
Knitting in a pickup truck
Last night my husband and I got in the pickup truck and headed back down to his nephew's farm (a two-hour drive from here) to pick up the large party tent, tables, and chairs we had taken to his place from our church for the pig roast last weekend. Sitting up next to my husband in the blue Ford pickup, knitting, enjoying the farmlands we drove through making our way south of here ... it was a scrumptious time. Fortunately...
Itty knitting and old barns
Today's post will be brief; my neighbor needed help loading her horse up this morning so she can take him to into the city to see a specialty blacksmith who is helping get his hooves fixed up from a problem of some sort he has been having. I have only lived here for a little over three months now, so had not been over to the neighbor's farm until this morning. The fact that she would call and ask for my help meant quite a lot to me, because we have only met once. It is a welcoming feeling to...

Last evening after dinner it rained here for hours. For me, this is autumn ... or the beginnings of it. If the weather in Los Angeles became cool with rain, it would be autumn. For my husband, it is still summer. Perhaps next year I will have learned new seasonal sensors but for now it is too soon to change. Autumn is my favorite time of year, so I am in good shape and enjoying the weather quite well. The lighting here is different too. Golden hour lasts much longer, and morning has a golden hour all its own that...
