I live on a farm ... — yarn

Pears and knitted nap blanket

We spent yesterday afternoon over at the property where we have a cottage and a boat house, on the river. It is about five miles from the farm. My husband's grandfather on his mother's side bought that property back in the 1930's and it has been in his family ever since. The property consists of a bit of land up above the river, and then a bit of land down on the bank of the river about one hundred feet below. Grateful for this cold autumn morning

Brrr ... we had a frost warning last night, and it feels rather frosty this morning. After breakfast, tea, and a bit of knitting before starting my work, I went outside with the camera to catch a bit of autumn to share with you this morning. My mother's recipe box is a treasure chest filled with jewels. I used to love to browse through it, gazing and the various hand-written index cards and clippings from newspapers, magazines, and product packaging. My parents are wonderful people; they grew up on farms in Mt. Airy, North Carolina, the boyhood...

I prepared the pattern this morning for the Small Knitted Gift Bag, and have posted it on my patterns page for anyone interested. On Monday I'll show you all a silly and fun scarf I am making for my daughter, and I will provide the pattern for it as well. Today I will be doing some writing for a couple of clients, but I also need to bake the pumpkin pie I am entering in the agricultural fair competition. I will make two of them, one for us and one for the competition. My husband has not had any of...

Cup o' Joe?

country living knitting stockings yarn

Would you sit and have a cup o' Joe with me? As people read my blog and some leave comments for me, I have begun to feel as if there is this cirlce of friends ... new friends ... who are gathering 'round. I began feeling this weekend that I would love it if we could all get together now and then with a cup of coffee and maybe our knitting projects and just have a knit and a chat together. Well, maybe we can do that virtually ... so how about it, you in? I finished my fingerless gloves...
