Now here is a sooty ol' Santa Claus ... he must have been practicing getting into and out of some chimneys. The Santa in my advent yesterday was a candle Santa (again, I don't understand why Santa seems appropriate as a candle subject, because what if someone burned him and he melted. It is just one of the saddest thoughts, a melting Santa. But, I digress ... back on point, yesterday's Santa was a candle and today's is a candle as well. I bought this one not long after I bought the other one--perhaps a year or two later. Perhaps...

The Santa I showed on Day Two of my advent has met with a wee bit of misfortune and is in the shop for repairs. Meanwhile, the fellow standing in the middle here is his temporary stand-in. For Day Three of The Advent of Santa (which I should have posted yesterday) I offer you Candle Santa. I bought him at Macy's in Los Angeles about 26 years ago or so. He is a candle, and even has a wick coming out the top of his hat. Who could ever burn a candle made to look like Santa? I certainly never...

Sunday my baby grand-daughter helped me unpack my Santa collection and set the jolly old elves out around the house. We set quite a few of them all along the window sash frames in the four dinning room windows facing our barn. Others, we sat and stood all along the fireplace mantle in our sitting room. A few others we placed on the tops of floor cabinets, hutches, and a knee wall. After they were all arranged we counted them up ... 43 in all--I didn't realize I had that many so far. I started collecting them when my children...

Somewhere north of here there is a place where a gazillion little elves are working around the clock to help a jolly ol' guy in a red suit create some magic that will bring happiness and joy to a great many children and other human beings. Their effort will be worthwhile, no matter how hard they have to work in getting there. Memories of the magic they create will live on in the hearts and minds of those who experience it for years to come. They will make a difference, those elves and that jolly ol' guy in the red...

I just completed this Christmas Stocking for our dear little Sweet Pea. This will be her official Christmas Stocking that will stay on the farm with Grandma and Grandpa. When I first showed it to her, she let out a happy squeal and leaned forward to look more closely with a big grin on her face … at 9 months old she already appreciates knitting projects! I used some beautiful, soft sock yarn for this Christmas Stocking that I purchased online from Kimber at Fiber Optic. I love Kimber's taste and artistry in creating colors for her yarns, and especially...
