Now here is a sooty ol' Santa Claus ... he must have been practicing getting into and out of some chimneys. The Santa in my advent yesterday was a candle Santa (again, I don't understand why Santa seems appropriate as a candle subject, because what if someone burned him and he melted. Some time ago I came across these gorgeous Espresso colored gift boxes that are 6" x 6" x 4" and I knew that all of the goodies I put into a Biscuit Blanket kit would fit perfectly inside of one. I also knew that the yarn, the note card and the recipe cards would look scrumptious inside a box that color.

Hello dear readers, I have been absent from my blog during the month of July. As it turns out, I needed some time to recuperate from months of intense fine art painting. Summer also brought with it many activities including a day of plein aire painting on the Master Gardener's Garden Path tour along with other painters from the county, our annual Chicken Barbeque fund raiser at church, and many chores around our property. Even today I don't have as much time to write as I would like to. However, you have been promised a July Sock Yarn Give Away...

Of all of my memories of school as a small child, all things related to books and reading and being read to are some of the richest in my treasure chest. I loved paper, the sound of a library book with its heavy plastic protective cover closing with a soft yet decisive thud, and carrying a stack of books to the librarian's desk with my mother by my side getting ready for summer reading.
