I just completed this Christmas Stocking for our dear little Sweet Pea. This will be her official Christmas Stocking that will stay on the farm with Grandma and Grandpa. When I first showed it to her, she let out a happy squeal and leaned forward to look more closely with a big grin on her face … at 9 months old she already appreciates knitting projects! I used some beautiful, soft sock yarn for this Christmas Stocking that I purchased online from Kimber at Fiber Optic. I love Kimber's taste and artistry in creating colors for her yarns, and especially...

It is cold out there, would you like to come inside for a cuppa Joe, tea, or cocoa? I'll put on a fire while you get your self settled into a nice comfortable chair. Together we'll look out the window toward the barn and the fields, with the woods off in the distance. From here I can see some of our trees, the old well pump out near the barn, and the large white expanse of snow covered lawn followed by some fifty acres of land planted this year with clover for hay. It is nearly one full month to the day since I have posted.  My intent is to post once per week, to treat this blog as a weekly feature and responsibility that my readers depend upon. We have enjoyed several snowfalls by now, a quiet and loving Thanksgiving has come and gone as winter reaches round our cheeks and necks, up our sleeves and down our collars. Cold, cold chill is in...

I woke up at 6:00 a.m. today fresh from a weird dream. Usually if I preface a statement about one of my dreams with "weird" it is totally redundant (to anyone who knows me that well) ... but of weird dreams, this one was especially weird in some of its features. Too weird not to tell. I was involved with some business people is some sort of company, and I was the annoying "talent" in the mix. There were these two "suits", a woman who was in charge and a man, and they had set up a meeting with some...

A few days ago I got out on the tractor and helped my husband mow our three acres of lawn; it was my first time getting back on the tractor since last summer. Side Bar: This is my third summer on the farm, somewhat hard to believe. The farmer who rents our arable (–adjective "1. capable of producing crops; suitable for farming; suited to the plow and for tillage: arable land; arable soil" ~dictionary.com) land planted winter wheat last autumn. The fields look much different with wheat growing in them than they did with corn, much of the difference is...
