Beautiful autumn mornings

We had our first lake effect snow flurries for the year two days ago, and temperatures here are definitely low these days. Autumn colors have hung around much longer than they did last year, so I am continuing to enjoy scrumptious views outside our windows, in our yard, and whenever I am out and about in a car. As leaves fall off the trees, more and more of the river across the road is visible from the house. I love this in-between time when there are less leaves than in the summer, gorgeous fall colors are in view on remaining...
Historic journeys

We have been on vacation, and oh ... the things we have seen. Our primary mission was a visit with my mother's identical twin sister and her husband, down in North Carolina. My uncle's health has been slipping over the past year, and I wanted him to meet my husband while he is still living at home and able to participate in a visit. On the way south, we visited Colonial Williamsburg where we spent three nights and two full days. My husband had been there many years ago with his family and had always wanted to return. As for...

I love the sound of the large trucks going by down the road. I don't have to see them to know they are carrying full loads of corn, apples, squash ... what-have-you. Fall harvest is in full swing and all around, people are enjoying the bounty. It is thrilling to be able to go to one of our favorite local farm markets to load up on fresh, ripe produce. We bring home a couple of bags full of squash, tomatoes, broccoli, sweet corn, etc. for about $10. We go to another local farm stand and buy a bushel of apples...

It is very much like having a child, this thing of raising a puppy. He is a good, good boy and sometimes he does mischief and he always keeps us on our toes. Back in July we put in an electric fence for him so that he can have full freedom out in the yard. It has been up to me to do the bulk of the training he needs so that he respects the boundaries set by the electric fence, simply because I work from home and am available to train him. We were doing pretty well with it...
Cool Days of August

We are having exceptionally cool days, even though it is late August. It is cool enough during the day I find myself reaching for sweaters and jackets. Not that I'm complaining ... The first weekend of the art show at The Winery at Marjim Manor went very well. The weather was gorgeous, and the time spent at the Manor was both highly aesthetic and relaxing. There is something about that little section of western New York that I absolutely love. Up the road from the Manor is a little ice cream stand on a neighbor's farm where I love to...
